Senate Warehouse / Material Handling Facility

This project involved the design and construction supervision of a large warehouse (8,300 sq.m.) in Gatineau, Quebec.

The building houses the Senate material handling facility.

The project was developed and completed as a design built. As the prime structural consultant, LRL collaborated with the general contractor, the project management, the client and the architect to develop a cost-efficient building meeting the client expectations.

The project was completed within budget and on schedule.

The project addressed the following activities:

• Review of all available background data;
• Design of structural moment frame and a foundation on a sensitive soil using light weight fill.
• Prepared a work cost estimate.
• Communication with the architect, the project manager, the general contractor, the city, and the end users.
• Final inspection, close out and compliance certificate for occupancy.
