Celebrating 40 Years in Business: The Journey of LRL Engineering

This year, we at LRL Engineering are proud to celebrate four decades of dedication to engineering excellence, a journey that started with humble beginnings in Vankleek Hill and Clarence-Rockland, located in eastern Ontario, which then evolved into a multidisciplinary force with offices in Ottawa, Moncton, and Pembroke.

In the early years, the focus was on mastering the intricacies of Civil Engineering. The team, fuelled by passion and a pursuit of knowledge of local design guidelines and the land surrounding our office in eastern Ontario tackled projects with enthusiasm and a solution-based approach. The commitment to delivering top-notch solutions earned LRL Engineering a reputation for reliability and excellence in the local community.

Diversification and Multidisciplinary Excellence

As the years unfolded, LRL Engineering embraced the spirit of evolution. Recognizing the dynamic nature of the engineering industry we expanded our services to meet the evolving needs of our clients. From Civil Engineering, our expertise grew to encompass Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Testing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Structural Engineering.

The decision to diversify was not just about expanding our service portfolio; it was a strategic move to provide comprehensive solutions under one roof. This multidisciplinary approach allowed us to seamlessly integrate various engineering facets, ensuring a holistic and efficient approach to projects. With all services offered under one roof, our in-house team was able to provide subject expertise on all aspects of various projects from concept to completion.

The journey of LRL Engineering wasn't confined to eastern Ontario. As our reputation for excellence and our love for building relationships with our clients spread, so did our reach throughout Canada marking the beginning of a new chapter.

In 2020, our commitment to serving long-standing clients in the Maritimes led us to establish an office in Moncton, NB. This expansion not only broadened our geographical footprint but also strengthened our connection with clients in Eastern Canada. This was an easy decision for us, given Christian Robichaud, President of LRL called this area home for many years, and we had been supporting many projects there from our Ottawa office.  

Most recently, in 2023, we proudly opened our doors in Pembroke, ON. This addition was driven by a desire to contribute to the growth of the local community that, Virginia Johnson, Civil engineering manager and Associate at LRL, as well as other key team members, grew up in, and extend our expertise to new horizons.
